The Magic Conch

Party Members[]

  • Lia Caelynn Ilicin Dwyndon
    • Player: Hannah
    • Race: Half-Elf
    • Class: Trickery Cleric
    • Backstory:
      • Lia is a 25 year old half-elf girl from Duliber in Narogand. She was raised by her mother, Caelynn Ilicin, an Elven woman, and her father, Frederick Dwyndon, a human man. Her mother came from a noble family in Ska'arin whom she left to be with Frederick. Because of this, Lia was raised without her grandparents and aunts and uncles (and the vast riches and lands they have). She was raised wealthy but is still slightly resentful towards her parents for ruining her chance at such a lavish lifestyle. Luckily, Lia’s father comes from a very wealthy family of merchants and her mother wasn’t completely disowned by her family so Lia grew up with servants, fine wines, and a beautiful home. Lia loves helping people but has always had a mischievous spirit, lurking around and eavesdropping on anyone and everyone. She likes to sneak around and disguise herself so that she can learn people’s secrets. Before leaving home, she dated a wizard named Bren who wasn’t the best boyfriend, but he taught her a few spells including Find Familiar which brought her her pet weasel, Popcorn. A few months ago, after her breakup with Bren, Lia decided to leave home and explore the world. Lia’s poise and beauty come from her mother. Her charm comes from her father. Lia has a pretty extensive knowledge of the wood of Dulib trees because of her father’s family’s trade. Her parents met when Frederick took a trip to Ska'arin to broaden his knowledge of trade routes and customs. Over the year he spent there, he met and fell in love with Caelynn who then came back to Duliber with him where to two got married and had Lia. Being a half-elf raised in a mostly human society, Lia was always different than the other kids she grew up with. This led her to be ridiculed by a few children but mostly she was adored for her beauty and charm, always the prettiest and most charming girl in the room.
      • Lia was flirting with a sailor on the Floral Bliss when it set off from port, not planning to be on the ship originally.
  • Rhiannon Verikath
    • Player: Kristen
    • Race: Triton
    • Class: Shepard Druid
    • Backstory:
      • Where I Live: I live with my family in a sunken pirate ship off the coast of Saj'aant. The ship is deep enough to be unseen by those on land. Its proximity to popular trading ports means there are few sea creatures in the area and the water is often populated with ships. Family and Friends: I live with my mother and my older brother. My father died several years ago during a battle in which he was trying to help protect a local reef from a Kraken attack. My family was very strict about contact with outsiders, so I have very few close friends. Driving Motivation: I want to prove myself to be successful in the eyes of those around me. I want to help those for whom I care and I want to be viewed as a hero. Growing up, I always tried to learn new skills but I constantly fell short of my goals. Before long, I was dismissed by those who believed me to be useless. Greatest Shame: When my father died, my entire family fell into a deep depression. We had to re-allocate responsibilities in order to survive. My mother sent me on an important errand to sell seashells we collected in exchange for food, but fell for a swindler’s tricks and lost all of our wares with nothing to show for it. My family was very ashamed of me and made sure I knew that they could no longer trust me. Since then, I work constantly to show my family that I can be helpful. How Others See Me: Bumbling, Good Intentions, Ignorant; People can tell that my heart is good. Despite my faults, they know my main goal is to help those around me. This can cause them to think I am easily fooled. How I See Myself: Loving, Determined, Ill-Equipped; I feel validated when people recognize my kind heart. I work tirelessly to impress others but often feel that I am not smart enough or capable enough to do anything properly. Triton Quirk: “The surface world is a wondrous place, and (I) catalog all its details in a journal.” Age: 50 years old (young adult) Physical Description: I am 5’ tall and have an athletic body type. I have blue-green skin, fins on my wrists and calves, long, purple hair, and bright yellow eyes. I wear modest clothes with scale-like features that slightly resemble armor (an ode to our family’s warrior history). I wear a necklace with a rune inscription that belonged to my father, along with other pieces of jewelry common for those living on land. Alignment: Lawful Good/Neutral
  • Althaea
    • Player: Taylor
    • Race: Wood Elf
    • Class: Thief Rogue
    • Backstory:
      • Althea lived in a well concealed wood elf village deep in the forests of LeLain that worked as a communist collective, valuing harmony and natural preservation over everything else. With that said, I developed a suspicion that an influential member of our village council was using magic to coerce other members of the council in decision-making. I was caught spying on this council member in a clandestine conversation with the local druid who often advised our council, and they both politely yet firmly suggested I leave the village immediately. I’ve left under the guise of exploring the wilds but, in actuality, I am biding my time while attempting to learn enough about magic to uncover what forces have been at work in my village and to expose the council member and his advisor.
      • She was a stowaway on the Floral Bliss trying to get to Saj'aant to learn more about magic.
  • Theolino De La Fontaine
    • Player: Lisa
    • Race: Loxodon
    • Class: Evocation Wizard
    • Backstory:
      • A Loxodon that was adopted by a wealthy family, he was always cared after and happy. As a teenager, when he started showing a talent for magic, his parents hired a tutor to train him. Parents were assassinated and he left to escape.
  • Billium Glenfellow

Campaign Log[]

  • Session 0
  • 7/17/2020
    • Theo, Althea, and Rhiannon woke up first and untied the rest.
    • They found their equipment.
    • Noticed the 3 pirates in the next room.
    • Discussed sneaking past.
    • Althea picked lock.
    • Lia cast Charm Person on one pirate to try and get them to let them leave.
    • The other two were suspicious and attacked.
    • They were defeated and the last pirate led them to the smuggler's tunnel.
    • They took a long rest after travelling for several hours.
    • During the night, Theo heard rustling up ahead.
    • After waking up, they ate breakfast.
    • Bubbles the cat and Rhiannon walked ahead of the group to see if they noticed anything.
    • Bubbles smelled rot and decay. They sent Althea ahead to investigate and she entered a cavern and heard something eating to her left. When trying to walk away, she made a noise the thing heard. It slowly began to follow, eventually noticing them and running towards them.
    • They entered combat with the ghoul, quickly dispatching it with spells.
    • They traveled until mid-afternoon until they exited the tunnel and saw Selwyn in the distance.
  • 7/24/2020
    • Pre-session notes
      • Billium will point out that they need to earn money in order to book passage on another ship. As a Selwyn resident, he will be able to make some recommendations: the Fighting Pits, the notice board, looking for work from the wharfmaster, or gambling at the Harvest's Dock Festival.
      • Billium will likely split off to try and earn his own money. If they get the ship or enough money to book passage, he will show up on the dock and beg to go with them in order to have their help to keep making their map.
    • Went to notice board and chose the infidelity notice.
    • Wife is named Mary
    • Followed Mary to house in the northeast and discovered they were stealing from Sedwyck and smuggling it away.
    • Attempted to draw Mary and Sten from the building with Lia's duplicate. He ran out after it but Mary stayed inside.
    • Rhiannon used Entangle to capture Mary, who began to scream. Althaea and Theo went inside to find evidence and found a letter from Mary to Sten detailing her trepidation with continuing to steal from Sedwyck.
    • They heard running coming down the street and they tried to flee. As they ran, Rhiannon created a fog cloud to try to hide their progress.
    • Sten and two lackeys followed them down an alley and began firing. The party returned fire and eventually killed them.
    • Theo began to search the bodies with Lia's help and found some gold, some silver, and a letter from higher up the chain saying to keep squeezing Mary until she had nothing left to give and then to kill her. Lia and Theo fought over whether the gold should be divided or kept by Theo.
    • After dividing the gold, the party made their way back to Billium's to rest for the night.
  • 7/31/2020
    • Pre-session Notes
      • Althaea only needs 4 hours for her long rest so she can choose to do something with the extra 4 hours if she'd like.
      • The party will need to return to Sedwyck to turn over the evidence. Mary, guessing someone has discovered her crime, will be on the docks trying to book passage away from Selwyn. She'll be gone by noon so the party will have until then to try to find her if that's what they try to do. If they leave it to Sedwyck, she gets away. Sedwyck will award them with 60 gold for their service and another 50 if they manage to catch Mary.
      • The party will have the same options of quests as before.
    • Althaea looked for books and found 3 cartography books and a romance novel.
    • She then explored the town and noticed several shops. She went into Alina's Stock Shop where Alina was too asleep to notice her. She then stole a small, oddly shaped but colorful and pearlescent shell. Alina woke up right after and asked if she needed anything and Althaea awkwardly left and returned to Billium's.
    • The party woke up and went to Sedwyck Reeny's to give the evidence. Sedwyck was angry and asked the party to apprehend his wife for an additional 50 gold.
    • They searched for her on the docks. Lia discovered through flirting and talking with the wharfmaster that Mary had booked passage on the Blue Lily which was heading to Saj'aant. Around the same time, Billium (who was with Althaea) noticed Mary walking past. They began pursuit. Lia returned and went with Rhiannon and Theo to where Mary was supposed to be.
    • Althaea saw Mary board the ship and wait for it to take off. The rest of the party showed up and tried to figure out what to do. Lia approached a guard and explained the situation. The guard asked the ship to delay leaving until they could sort out the situation.
    • The party went to drink at the Soggy Bottom until the guard returned. The guard provided a letter to give to Sedwyck and went to arrest Mary.
    • After the party arrived at Sedwyck's and received their gold, the guard showed up in a huff and explained Mary escaped towards Smuggler's Run. Sedwyck allowed them to keep their money and the team returned to the streets.
  • 8/21/2020
    • Pre-session Notes
      • The wharf master will approach them and commend them on their help and then introduce the quest with the haunted lighthouse.
      • Billium will be so enticed by the free ship that he will insist on coming with. Since he doesn’t have any weapons (or much training), he’ll ask to go to a blacksmith to pick up a crossbow. He’ll recommend the one by the docks.
      • The party can set out immediately or wait until after the festival.
    • Party returned to the notice board and found the same notice as before and also a notice from Yarice.
    • The party went to Yarice's smithy and spoke to her about her job as well as negotiated for a crossbow for Billium. The deal was the crossbow and 20 gold.
    • The party traveled to the ruins and fought the gelatinous cubes below the tower.
    • Billium nearly died but the party saved him. They looted the room and collected all the loot.
    • 41 gold to Billium
    • Then the party went to the caves and mined the ore. Althaea lead the mining and retrieved 8.5 lbs of ore. Then the party took a long rest.
  • 9/11/2020
    • Pre-session Notes
      • Party will return to Yarice for their reward. She'll pay them 40 gold for the amount of ore they brought.
      • Party will seek out the guard master to get their reward for the notice board quest. He'll pay out the 50 gold.
      • Billium will thank the party profusely for saving his life. He'll vow to keep practicing so that he can be more helpful in the future.
      • The party can spend the last day before the festival around town or in the Fighting Pits or skip it and go to the festival.
    • Returned for reward (30 gold for Althaea)
    • Took a job from Yarice to find an assistant to help with experiments.
    • They found Milt the gnome tinkerer and he agreed to work with Yarice. She gave them 15 gold.
    • The party went to the fighting pits and did their first fight. They decided on the name The Magic Conch for now.
    • The party won their fight and got their 10 gold each.
  • 9/19/2020
    • Pre-session Notes
      • Phillip will offer to let them fight the rest of the Tier in one battle (which they seem like they can do easily) in order to speed things up.
      • They can also choose to forgo fighting for now and finish off the day and go right to the festival.
      • If they leave the fighting pits, Phillip will ask them to stop by during the festival for their special event (wrestling competition).
      • While they're around town the rest of the day, they'll notice people setting up decorations and stands.
    • The Magic Conch fought the remainder of Tier 1 at once and won. They received their reward and went back to Billium's to sleep.
  • 9/25/2020
    • Pre-session notes
      • The party will wake at Billium's and be free to start partying or eat or talk or whatever.
    • The party took part in the festival.
    • They participated in all games but the racing and wrestling.
    • Lia lost many games and grew sad but won the archery competition when no one was around.
    • They had a good time and went back to Billium's for a night's rest.
  • 11/13/2020
    • Pre-session Notes
      • The party will wake up at Billium's and they'll need to head out for the lighthouse.
      • They can choose to walk or get horses.
      • They can also choose to take the longer trip on the path or the shorter path along the coast (risking more combat).
      • Need to remind them to buy any components they need for their spells.
